MySolidWorks: Overview

MySolidWorks is the go-to site for anyone that uses SolidWorks. With tons of forums, tutorials, downloadable models, training, and much more, you are going to wonder why you are not utilizing this website more after reading this blog. We will be doing a quick overview of the site and its sections to show you its potential and will be doing further “deep dive” blogs on each topic in the future. Signing Up

To gain full access to all training content you must be a SolidWorks standard user. To become a standard user when signing up for an account you must link your SolidWorks serial number. If you have not purchased SolidWorks and do not have a valid serial number some content on the MySolidWorks site will be blocked for you. You are still able to sign up with any email if you do not own a SolidWorks license however your account will have limited access to the site’s content.

Buzz

The “Buzz” section on the MySolidWorks website shows you the latest news, articles, and content from industries and individuals that utilize SolidWorks. Here you can find posts on simulations, SolidWorks electrical, sketching tips, additive manufacturing tutorials and so much more. With multiple filters for type and category, MySolidWorks makes it easy for you to filter and find the exact information you are looking for.

CAD Models

The “CAD Models” section on MySolidWorks.com is the portion of the site where you, other designers, suppliers, companies, and anyone who uses 3D modeling software can upload CAD models for use by others. With multiple filter options and categories, you can browse through thousands of models that you can download and implement into your designs. If you are familiar with GrabCAD (https://grabcad.com/) the CAD models section of MySolidWorks is very similar to this.

Training

MySolidWorks.com offers a wide range of training materials that are available under the “Training” tab. With lessons in simulation, electrical, sheet metal features, imported geometry, and much more, there is a lesson for just about any area of SolidWorks that you could have questions on. With videos and example files to follow along with each lesson, MySolidWorks makes training fun and easy. All lessons that are listed on the MySolidWorks site are free, eCourses will need to be purchased for a quoted fee through your SolidWorks reseller.

Forums

MySolidWorks “Forums” section is a great place to either post a SolidWorks question or browse for a possible answer. With thousands of posts over multiple different categories, it is likely that any question or issue you have has been answered or explained in one of these forums. MySolidWorks forums make it quick and easy to ask questions and find answers.

Support

Finding the right technical support can be a pain sometimes but MySolidWorks makes it easy. The “Support” tab offers you information on multiple topics such as system requirements, product support, additional downloads, and more. A great example of a use for this tab would be when you are selecting a computer that you want to use to run SolidWorks. The system requirements portion of the support tab will detail what graphics card you should have, how much RAM you will need, and what operating system is required. MySolidWorks.com has done a great job consolidating the right technical support information to give the user the best experience possible.

3DExperience Marketplace

What used to be the MySolidWorks manufacturing network is now the 3DExperience marketplace. The 3DExpereince marketplace works as a community of industrial manufacturing and service providers. Here you can either promote your services or find a service provider to collaborate with on your projects. Perception Engineering is listed on the service providers list so feel free to check out our profile and see if we are the right service provider for your project!
