SolidWorks: Trim Entities Update (2019+)

Each year, a new SolidWorks package is released, and with it, updated tools. Starting with SolidWorks 2019, one of the updated tools is Trim Entities. Trim Entities now has two new options, “Keep trimmed entities as construction geometry” and “Ignore trimming of construction geometry”.

The Trim Entities tool can be found in the Sketch tab, as shown below in Figure 1.

The Trim Entities menu is shown below in Figure 2.

The first option, “Keep trimmed entities as construction geometry”, converts trimmed entities into construction geometry. A before and after of a trimmed vertical line is shown below. After the trim, there is now a construction line.

The other option, “Ignore trimming of construction geometry”, does not allow for trimming of construction lines. This is helpful when using the power trim tool, but some construction lines need to be kept.

With every new version of SolidWorks, there are new tools and features that come with it. In 2019, Trim Entities was updated with new features for construction lines.
